# Hourly profiles file
|
|
|
The hourly profiles file is where the user defines the hourly temporal factors for each profile ID.
|
|
|
|
|
|
For each profile, the sum of all factors has to be equal to 24. This is due to the fact that all the original emission inventories that HERMESv3_GR works with are reported in kg/m-2*s-1.
|
|
|
During the initialization of the system, HERMESv3_GR verifies that all the profiles sum 24. If one or more profiles do not fullfill the criterion an error message will occur and the simulation will stop.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Despite the fact that HERMESv3_GR estimates emissions in UTC time, note that all the hourly temporal profiles are reported in local standard time. For each grid cell of the working domain, HERMESv3_GR internally converts the UTC time defined by the user to the corresponding local standard time.
|
|
|
|
|
|
For instance, if the user defines start_date = 2010/01/01 00:00:00 in the configuration file, HERMESv3_GR will select different hourly temporal factors according to the world time zone of each country/region:
|

|
* UK: 0 (UTC)
|
|
|
* ESP: 1 (UTC + 1h)
|
|
|
* MEX: 18 (UTC - 6h)
|
|
|
|
|
|
HERMESv3_GR also takes into account Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes, which do not necessarily occur on the same date every year and in every country. For instance, if the user defines start_date = 2010/07/01 00:00:00 in the configuration file, the selected hourly temporal factors will change as follows:

* UK: 1 (UTC + 1h)
|
|
|
* ESP: 2 (UTC + 2h)
|
|
|
* MEX: 19 (UTC - 5h)
|
|
