The atmospheric initial conditions are generated with OpenIFS using the FULLPOS system which is a physical interpolation that takes into account the model definitions. The initial conditions are currently generated from ERA5 reanalysis. The members (e.g. fc1-fc9) are generated from the official member fc0, by applying reproducible random perturbations of the 3D temperature field. At BSC, the initial conditions are available in the following folder: /esarchive/releases/ic/atmos/[resol]/[exp]/

The atmospheric initial conditions are generated with the IFS code at ECMWF using the FULLPOS system which is a physical interpolation that takes into account the model definitions. The initial conditions are currently generated from ERA-Interim and ERA40, while the surface parameters are replaced in some ICs with the ERA-Land analysis. The ERA-Land analysis is forced by bias-corrected input and represent the surface variables more accurate than ERA-Interim. The members are generated using singular vectors (SV-Pert) or with random perturbations of the SST (SST-Pert). At BSC, the initial conditions are available in the following folder: /esarchive/releases/ic/atmos/[resol]/[exp]/
