For now, atmospheric nudging can be used only for experiments run at ECMWF, as the reference data for nudging is stored on ECFS under the following path: ec:/c3l/reffiles/b0ir/

Atmospheric nudging branches

For the time being, branches are designed for use at ECMWF, with b0ir reference data copied in the local $SCRATCH folder of the HPC to avoid a high number of accesses to the ECFS file storage system.

In the framework of SPECS, experiments have to be CMORized and uploaded to the common repository in BADC (<http://www.specs-fp7.eu/wiki/index.php/Data#CMORisation>). So it is essential for users (responsible for running SPECS experiments) to follow the instructions given below as far as preparing the CMORized output of their experiments is concerned where users have two options either prepare the CMORized output offline or online (with respect to Autosubmit framework). But it is mandat…

Description

PISCES-v2 (Pelagic Interactions Scheme for Carbon and Ecosystem Studies volume 2) is a biogeochemical model which simulates the lower trophic levels of marine ecosystems (phytoplankton, microzooplankton and mesozooplankton) and the biogeochemical cycles of carbon and of the main nutrients (P, N, Fe, and Si). The model is intended to be used for both regional and global configurations at high
or low spatial resolutions as well as for short-term (seasonal, interann…

Introduction

Rationale

This work on reproducibility is motivated by three scientific questions:

1/ Is it necessary to rerun a control run whenever a climate model is ported to a new machine?

2/ Can we distinguish a stream of simulations on machine B from a stream of simulations on machine A when only the hardware and the environmental software are changed?

Automate a scalability analysis with Autosubmit

In case of having to perform a bi-dimensional scalability analysis, a lot of simulations are needed. In order to deal with this, it is possible to automate the whole analysis with the ec-earth_autosubmit_perf.sh script. It is necessary to modify some variables to adapt the scalability analysis, such as the number of MPI tasks (in the two bucles), the MareNostrum's username, all the initialization variables, etc.

The spin outclass has been defined for historical/spin-up sort of long experiments under the framework of HiResClim (<https://dev.ec-earth.org/projects/ecearth3/wiki/PRACE_HiRes_project>).

Here are below the essential pre-requisites before someone start using this outclass:

	* template: ECEARTH3-SPIN (where Klaus's pp-tool has been embedded and the output is generated in PPA and PPO format rather MMA and MMO)

The stochastically perturbed parameterization tendencies scheme (SPPT) can be activated in EC-Earth3 by using appropriate namelists for IFS. To use SPPT in your seasonal forecast experiment, use template branch develop-SPPT and model branch develop-v3.0.1_SPPT with Autosubmit 2.3 or higher. Default settings for the SPPT scheme are suggested in the expdef.conf file of the experiment you create.
