This bug is reported by external users. The newer cdo version name can be different from 'x.y.z'. For example, it can be "1.9.9rc1". The code is modified to keep only "1.9.9".
Ps. this is a problem found in Ubuntu. Not sure if this kind of name exists in other systems, too.
