Hi @pabretonniere and @lcaron,
To include the CDS Seasonal Downloader in the package, there is the possibility to use folder inst
which commonly is not tested on CRAN.
My first question is for @pabretonniere, when I have moved the content from CDS_Seasonal_Downloader folder to inst/doc/CDS_Seasonal_Downloader, it appears like a direct access
Is this correct or should it appear only inst
and then click to go to nested levels? (I haven't created the folder using git commands)
On the other side, there is a new vignette called Data_Considerations.md. @lcaron has already reviewed it and I think it could be beneficial if @pabretonniere takes a look too.
The next problem is how to point users to the CDS_Seasonla_Downloader information.
For now, the vignette includes a link to the CDS_Seasonal_Downloader README pointing to the gitlab project but the project is private. There is the possibility to point users to the local version of CSTools:
system.file('README.md', package = 'CSTools')
but I don't know if it will work the tests I have done only worked for:
system.file(package = 'CSTools')
[1] "/shared/earth/software/R/3.6.1-foss-2015a-bare/lib64/R/library/CSTools"
Then, the user will need to explore the content.
The remaining option is to create a separate public GitLab project with the CDS_Seasonal_Downloader. In this case, I should rewrite the vignette Data_Consideration to make the message clear that we have the CDS_Seasonal_Downloader.
Sorry if it is too complicated ... many ifs
