Task 1.1 - Offline dust emissions flux inversion (lead BSC, contributor HYGEOS)
● Production and evaluation of posterior estimates of dust emission correction factors, using an ensemble of IFS simulations with perturbations in dust emissions.
● Evaluation of a deterministic experiment which includes the optimised emission factor

WP8 is led by Hilde Fagerli (MET Norway) and Vincent Huijnen (KNMI)
Task 8.3 – Intercomparison of SOA modules, and evaluation of the combined impact of emission and SOA model improvement on organic aerosols forecasts (lead METNorway/KNMI, contributors AU-ENVS/SMHI/BSC/AU-ENVS/HYGEOS)
● Implement and test different SOA schemes, both sophisticated and simplified (including the IFS scheme). Identify key sources of uncertainty and decide which schemes to focus on for evaluation and improvement
● Evaluate and intercompare impact of updated OM precursor emissions (BVOC, IVOC and SVOC) and SOA modeling against relevant observations, including those with source attribution (PMF, levoglucosan) distinguishing between primary and secondary OC from RWC, primary and secondary OC from biogenic sources etc.
