cmorization

Overview

In the framework of SPECS, experiments have to be CMORized and uploaded to the common repository in BADC (http://www.specs-fp7.eu/wiki/index.php/Data#CMORisation). So it is essential for users (responsible for running SPECS experiments) to follow the instructions given below as far as preparing the CMORized output of their experiments is concerned where users have two options either prepare the CMORized output offline or online (with respect to Autosubmit framework). But it is mandatory to choose either specs-daily-ocean (for ORCA1) or specs (for ORCA025) outclass first.

Offline CMORization

This option is recommended in only a few cases: essentially if user is running on a new machine on which the CMORization package has not been deployed and tested (currently the package is available at ARCHER and MareNostrum3). As far as running the offline CMORization is concerned; it means the Autosubmit is not doing anything and user will have to do it “manually” with the specific set of output stored locally at IC3.

As far as ocean output is concerned the offline CMORization package could deal with stored MMO files but in the context of atmospheric output user require to make sure that the following reduced set of output is well prepared and downloaded at IC3 at /cfunas/exp/ecearth/gribfiles.

So, user must require to activate the following parameters into expdef.conf in order to proceed with offline option:

As in case of offline CMORization; Autosubmit won't be involved in the process, the CMORization parameters in expdef.conf are mandatory to be left blank:

Online CMORization

This should be the default one: the CMORization is performed automatically through Autosubmit during the “post” after each chunk of simulation and the output will be stored locally. So, for activating the online CMORization, user require to fill in the following parameters in expdef.conf at least:

Experiments

Here a table could be prepared for SPECS experiments with expid, status (either CMORization is ready or not), quality checked or not and transferred to BADC or not etc etc.
